Our Father Primary School

The Our Father Primary School is a mixed boarding and day school in the village of Kagavu. This school is seeking to change the status quo of the educational process in Uganda, taking a more of a Western approach to classroom management. Currently, the national school system lacks the diversity in serving different learning styles and focuses solely on the lecture delivery method. The challenging and debate of ideas tends to be strictly forbidden, sometimes even resulting in corporal punishment in front of the entire student body. The Our Father Primary School is challenging the status quo and is wanting to serve different learning styles and encouraging classroom discussions and the challenging of ideas. In addition, a large focus is placed on moral education, which is something that is also severely lacking in the national school system. Currently, there remains insufficient funds to have a secondary school in the village that will allow students to continue this effective learning process. Students that move on from Our Father Primary School must attend a different school for their high school education. It is our hope that we will be able to fund a secondary school that will allow these students the opportunity to continue their education in an environment that emphasizes learning and not rote memorization.

Current and Future Projects for Our Father Primary School

Funding for Classrooms for Kindergarten and Preschool students

Currently, the number of young students that are beginning their education at Our Father Primary School are growing at a very fast pace. Currently, these students do not have separate classrooms for their education. They must share classrooms with other grades. With your support, they can have their own classroom where they are free to learn and grow into strong children of God.

Funding for Secondary School Students

Students that pass their primary school exams currently are required to attend a secondary school in neighboring villages because in Kagavu village there is no secondary school. These students are required to pay for their education and for their transportation to and from school. To help ease the burden on these families, they need your support.

Funding for Teachers

The structure of the Ugandan education system is pivotal on the ability of the instructors because your ability to continue your education is based on high-stakes testing. If students do not pass the primary exam, they will not even have the chance to continue their education into middle school. The staff here are great and they do an incredible job, but they need your support.

School Supplies for Students

School supplies are always a necessity, no matter where you are. It is no different at Our Father Primary School in Kagavu village. With your help, we can help ease the burden for students and their families with their school uniforms and required materials.

Supplies for Boarding Students

After completing the dormitories for the boarding students here, the demand only continues to grow for orphaned students. There is a great need for beds, mattresses and blankets for these incredible children. With your support, more orphans will have the opportunity to board at the school and have access to a good night sleep.

Funding for Secondary School

Currently, there is no secondary school in Kagavu village. Therefore, the strong, Christian-based education that they are receiving in primary school is at risk when they are forced to leave and go to a secondary school that is in another village. This is a very large campaign and is one of our very important long term goals to achieve. With your support we will get these children a secondary school that builds on their already established Christian faith and will allow them to grow and develop into students that can make a huge impact on the world.

Funding for School Library

Do you want to help a child that is learning how to read and help instill a love in them for literature? Currently, there is a very limited supply of books to read, beyond the few textbooks that are available. With your contributions, we can make books more readily available for these students and for the community.
